This book is fantastic, and I'd say it's a must read for everyone. "Confessions of a Surgeon" is entertaining and informative. I watch a lot of Grey's Anatomy, so I thought I knew a little bit about surgery (hahahhahahah not really), but this was a real look into the medical world/5(). The Reconciliation: Islam, Democracy and the West was published in An approximate 19 years gap between the two books. Daughter of the East voiced the ideas in the capacity of a daughter whereas this book in comparison was written by a transformed intellectual visionary/5().

Daniel Quinn's Ishmael Words | 5 Pages. In his novel Ishmael, Daniel Quinn discusses the destruction and salvation of the world. By way of a newspaper ad, an unnamed narrator meets a telepathic gorilla, named Ishmael, who had put up the ad to find a pupil with a desire to save the world.

This sense of despair, Ishmael claims, is why many rely so heavily on drugs, alcohol, and television, or suffer insanity and suicidal thoughts.

Ishmael's opinion on takers Taker culture is in freefall, doomed to crash once it has depleted the planet of its biological and environmental resources.

Ishmael, ArabicIsmāʿīl, son of Abraham through Hagar, according to the three great Abrahamic religions—Judaism, Christianity, and the birth of Isaac, another son of Abraham, through Sarah, Ishmael and his mother were banished to the desert.A minor figure thereafter in the traditions of Judaism and Christianity, Ishmael continued to play a foundational role in Islamic tradition.

Ishmael brings up a small point he’s been neglecting. One of his former pupils was an ex-convict. From this pupil, Ishmael learned that the world of prison, like the human world itself, is stratified: there are wealthy prisoners, poor prisoners, strong prisoners, and weak prisoners.

In a sense, the entire Taker world is a prison. Descriptions & excerpts from Ishmael, The Story of B, My Ishmael, Providence, Beyond Civilization, Tales of Adam, If They Give You Lined Paper and more.Ishmael: An Adventure of the Mind and Spirit shows an enormous educated, telepathic gorilla, Ishmael, mentoring an idealistic but somewhat dense middle-aged writer.

Ishmael helps him understand how the majority of humankind is enacting a story that will destroy the world, while a tiny minority lives in communion with the community of life and can point to a brighter future.A natural food chain must persist. Ishmael next discusses the Genesis origin stories - of Adam and Eve, and of Cain and Abel - to explore the meaning of the Taker story, and how it historically worked against the Leaver civilizations.

He claims that the Fall of Man story was actually developed by Leavers to explain why the Takers started.
